Clark, S.D. man charged in murder of his mother
Body discovered July 8, authorities think the murder happened before that

WATERTOWN, S.D. (KXLG Radio) — Today, South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley announced charges of First-Degree and Second-Degree Murder against Clark resident Bowen Fladland, age 34.
Authorities identified the victim as Marlene Flatland, the suspect's mother.
In an exclusive interview with KXLG Radio, Attorney General Jackley provided further details on the ongoing investigation.
Regarding the timeline of the incident, Jackley noted that while the discovery of the body occurred on July 8th, the charging documents allege the death occurred earlier.
The next steps in Fladland's legal process will include a bond hearing, during which the judge will inform him of the charges and his constitutional rights.
Fladland is presumed innocent under the U.S. Constitution as legal proceedings commence.
